The city of Richmond announced Monday it has extended the deadline for its Richmond Recovers II Grant Program through Dec. 18.

The program will provide applicants with grants of $15,000 for COVID-19 pandemic relief and will be funded with $2 million from the city’s CARES Act appropriation. Small businesses other than restaurants, retail and beverage production are eligible to receive grant funds, according to a statement from Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney’s office.

Applications opened on Dec. 7 for the city’s second round of relief funding. The first program approved 260 grants totaling $2.79 million, and Richmond has allocated more than $6.3 million to support businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funds can be used to reimburse the costs of employee wages, rent, utilities, personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies, e-commerce expenses and working capital.
