Richmond-based Isley Brewing Co. is expanding to Virgina Beach.
The brewery will open a second location in the city’s ViBe Creative District at 315 Virginia Beach Blvd. It will will be located in a 5,582-square-foot building that went up in 1946.
The new facility, scheduled to open in July, will include a brewery capable of producing 2,000 barrels of beer a year, a tasting room, live music and events. The brewery is expected to create 10 full-time jobs.
Isley will invest $825,000 in real estate, business property and machinery and tools. The Virginia Beach Development Authority has awarded $30,000 in an Economic Development Investment Program grant for the project based on Isley’s capital investment.
The brewery’s owner, Mike Isley, wants to tap into Virginia Beach’s 15.2 million visitors and the resort lifestyle. The Virginia Beach location is within walking distance to the oceanfront and the boardwalk. Isley’s announcement comes in the wake of another brewery pulling out of Virginia Beach. San Diego-based Green Flash closed its local facility last month, which employed 36 people.
