Reston-based IT service provider 1901 Group LLC has named George Batsakis as its executive vice president and chief strategy officer, the company announced Tuesday.

Batsakis will lead the company’s overall strategy planning and development, executive management, operations, new business development, emerging technology and partnerships.

An Army veteran, Batsakis most recently worked for Accenture Federal Services, where he served as defense and intelligence portfolio lead. Other firms he has worked for include Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Northrop Grumman and CSRA/General Dynamics Information Technology.

“George’s skill set in leading technology and innovation-oriented businesses coupled with his keen understanding of market trends are an ideal match for the company,” 1901 Group CEO Sonu Singh said in a statement. “We are excited to have George on the 1901 Group team.”

Batsakis holds a master’s degree in business from John’s Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Hillsdale College.

1901 Group was founded in 2009 and in November 2018 announced that it would invest $4 million to grow its operations center in Blacksburg and its corporate offices in Reston. The Blacksburg project broke ground in August 2019 for the 45,000-square-foot operation center. The expansion is expected to create 805 new jobs in Virginia — 580 in Montgomery County and 225 in Fairfax County — during the next three years.
