Real Estate: BOB MILKOVICH

Milkovich joined Rand, a privately owned, nationwide commercial general contractor specializing in retail and restaurant construction, tenant interiors and building renovations, in January 2019 as its chief. He succeeded Linda Rabbitt, who founded the company more than three decades ago.

Before that, Milkovich served as CEO of First Potomac Realty Trust, where he led the real estate investment trust’s $1.4 billion sale to Government Properties Income Trust in 2017. He has spent more than 30 years in commercial real estate and was also president of Spaulding & Slye Investments.

In addition to becoming one of the largest construction contractors in the D.C. region, Rand has expanded its footprint to Atlanta, Austin, Dallas and Denver.

FIRST JOB: Mowing neighbors’ lawns

WHAT I WAS LIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL: Outgoing and competitive. I played football, basketball, baseball, playing right through the calendar year because in the summertime you’d have summer basketball and summer baseball. My parents said I had to have a certain GPA if I was going to participate in sports, so I did.
