Virginia Produce Co. Inc. plans to create 33 jobs and invest $650,000 in expanding its wholesale facility in Carroll County.
The fHillsville-based company will nearly double production during the next three years while buying an additional $6.3 million in Virginia-grown agricultural products.
Established in 2003, family-owned Virginia Produce specializes in repacking and shipping produce year round.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services worked with Carroll County and Virginia Produce to secure the project. Gov. Terry McAuliffe approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund, which the county will match with local funds.
The project is receiving additional assistance through the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission’s Tobacco Region Opportunity Fund.
