EASTERN VIRGINIA

Memorial Hospital in Martinsville has appointed a six-person panel, which will advise hospital executives on how to improve patient care and safety. The panelists are: the Rev. John Fulcher Jr., pastor of First Baptist Church of Martinsville; Phala Fuller, a registered nurse who is the hospital’s care coordinator; Wade Nester, the Henry County Public Service Authority’s right-of-way agent; Susan Reynolds, human resources director for the county government; Gene Teague, director of business planning for Nautica and a member of Martinsville City Council; and Norma Witt, coding manager for Dr. Jon’s Urgent Care in Ridgeway. Brad Sumpter, promoted to director of finance information technology, Virginia Tech. Sumpter was assistant director of finance information technology. He succeeds Allen Campbell, who was appointed senior director of application architecture and planning in the Division of Information Technology’s Enterprise Systems unit. (News release)

Robert J. Catron, elected chairman of the Virginia Board of Health Professions. Catron is managing partner at Alcalde & Fay Virginia LLC, Arlington. (News release)

Michael Horn left his position as president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, Herndon. Hinrich J. Woebcken, head of the company’s North American Region and chairman of Volkswagen Group of America, will assume Horn’s position on an interim basis. Lloyd W. Howell Jr., named chief financial officer and treasurer, Booz Allen Hamilton, McLean, effective July 1.  Howell is an executive vice president leading the firm’s civil commercial group. He succeeds Kevin Cook, who is retiring. (VirginiaBusiness.com)

Ronald M. White, inducted into the Asphalt Pavement Hall of Fame. He is chairman emeritus of Gainesville-based Superior Paving Corp. (News release)

CENTRAL VIRGINIA
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership named its chief operating officer, Dan Gundersen, interim president and CEO. He replaces Martin Briley, who has led the organization for four and a half years. A reason for Briley’s departure was not given. (VirginiaBusiness.com)

C. Erik Gustafson, named chief executive officer of LeClairRyan, which has its largest office in Richmond. He is the former leader of the law firm’s Alexandria office. Gustafson succeeds David Freinberg, the firm’s CEO since 2011. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Dean A. Lynch, named executive director of the Virginia Association of Counties, effective July 1. Lynch will succeed James D. Campbell, who is retiring after 26 years leading the association. (VirginiaBusiness.com)

Christopher M. Shockley, named president and CEO of Richmond-based Virginia Credit Union, effective March 31. Shockley was executive vice president. He succeeds Jane Watkins, who is retiring after 34 years with the credit union. (News release)
