Call it the rise of the rooftop terrace. That appears to be the new “in” amenity for office properties in Northern Virginia, especially when the terrace offers panoramic views of the area.
Monday Properties is touting the fact that it has received approval from Arlington County to build a rooftop terrace at 1100 Wilson Boulevard, one of Rosslyn’s Twin Towers trophy office buildings, that it says will be the largest in the area.
The terrace will include more than 5,000 square feet of usable space, offering views of the Washington, D.C., monuments and the Potomac River.
When it's complete ny spring 2016, it will be accessible to tenants in both of Rosslyn’s 31-story Twin Towers via the lobby elevator. According to Monday, a real estate investment firm that focuses on the Washington, D.C., and New York City markets, the terrace will include indoor and outdoor space – complete with a bar/catering kitchen, restrooms and abundant lounge seating.
“We made this strategic investment not only to fully leverage the competitive advantage of Rosslyn’s amazing views, but also with the recognition that businesses value being able to provide world-class experiences for their clients and collaborative spaces for their employees,” Tim Helmig, president and COO of Monday Properties, said in a statement.
In addition to the rooftop terrace, Monday Properties said it has invested more than $70 million in improvements to the Twin Towers, including new lobbies, elevators, HVAC system and parking garage upgrades. The company said it also has plans to renovate the building’s 8,000-square-foot fitness center.
Monday Properties’ Twin Towers include 1000 Wilson and 1100 Wilson Boulevard, which offer more than 1 million square feet of office space. They are among the tallest commercial towers in the region.
