A study by Old Dominion University reveals the top 10 markets for U.S. maritime security exports.
Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom lead the list in the Virginia Maritime Security Export Market Report.
The study is part of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s “Going Global Defense Initiative,” which is designed to ease the impact of defense spending cuts on Virginia’s economy by boosting export opportunities for Virginia companies.
The report says that export opportunities exist for both products, such as sensors and chemical detection devices, and services, such as systems engineering and information technology services.
In addition to providing a list of the best opportunities, the report includes information on the social and political structures of each market and the ease and ability of Virginia firms to sell in those countries. The report can be accessed here.
Following are the top 10 markets identified by ODU:
1. Japan
2. Australia
3. United Kingdom
4. South Korea
5. Israel
