NVRetail will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 14 as the kickoff of construction on its new Lovettsville Square development in Loudoun County.
Located at the intersection of Berlin Turnpike (Route 287) and West Broad Way (Route 673), the initial building will have about 18,000 square feet of retail space.
Conscious of the community’s desire to preserve the town’s Germanic heritage and “town square” feel, NVRetail said it worked with Falls Church-based Rounds VanDuzer Architects to design a structure that includes a prominent clock tower feature and storefronts readily visible and accessible from the busy 287 corridor.
The project’s civil engineer is Leesburg-based Bowman Consulting.
“We’ve had a congenial, productive working relationship with the residents and civic leaders of Lovettsville and Loudoun County,” Judd Bostian, NVRetail’s vice president, said in a statement. “We are excited to bring new shopping and dining options to those who live and work in this community … Right now, Lovettsville residents and much of the surrounding populace must drive to Purcellville or Brunswick, Md., to find any substantial retail options.”
NVRetail, based in Vienna, said it is in the process of executing a 2,500-square-foot lease for the project, and other interested retailers have submitted letters of intent. NVRetail is wants to secure a boutique grocery/convenience store, a pharmacy, sit-down or quick- service restaurant and other daily-needs retail.
Now that site preparation is underway, building construction will start before the end of the year and should conclude by mid-2016.NVRetail also has a 350,000-square-foot, mixed-use development, West Broad Street Marketplace, underway in Henrico County.
The groundbreaking will be held across from the Lovettsville Town Square site at 11 a.m. It is open to the public.
