Vienna-based information technology company MicroTechnologies LLC and Reston-based Agile Defense Inc. have been awarded a $159 million Air Force contract to provide communications support, the companies announced Thursday.

The task order was awarded by the U.S. Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT) Combined Air and Space Operations Center (CAOC).

“We look forward to working alongside Agile Defense to provide operations and maintenance support to our customer’s IT infrastructure, operations center and enterprise,” MicroTech CEO Tony Jimenez said in a statement. “This award builds upon our already successful business of bringing value to our Department of Defense customers and demonstrates our commitment to support their missions and our warfighters.”

The CAOC commands and controls air power in the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility — a 20-nation region from northeast Africa to South Asia. The center is located at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

MicroTech is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business  founded in 2004 by Tony Jimenez, a retired Army lieutenant colonel.

Agile Defense’s clients include U.S. civil agencies and the U.S. Department of Defense and was founded in 1998.
