Peggy Stevens has joined the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust (NVCT) as its new executive director.
Stevens comes to Northern Virginia after five years as executive director of the Westport Land Conservation Trust (WLCT), serving a coastal farming community in southeastern Massachusetts. According to NVCT, Stevens more than quadrupled the annual fund, doubled membership revenue, and sustained annual land protection revenue during a time of economic downturn.
Through a business partnership with the Trustees of Reservations, a nationally known, state-wide land trust, WLCT protected 600 acres of land during the past four years.
Stevens is a graduate of Connecticut College and received her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina.
The Northern Virginia Conservation Trust is a nonprofit organization that saves open space in the region by encouraging governments and private landowners to preserve natural areas, trails, streams, parks and historic and cultural resources for the benefit of current and future generations.
