Julie Coons has been named the next president and CEO of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
Coons is currently chief operating officer of the Council of Better Business Bureaus in Arlington. Her appointment is effective Sept. 10.
Coons also previously was president and CEO of both the Electronic Retailing Association and Maryland Tech Council.
A national search for the chamber’s executive was conducted by McCormick Group, a national executive search consulting firm, and led by the chamber’s search committee, which was chaired by Kathy Albarado, CEO of Helios HR.
“Julie’s exceptional background and experience leading diverse organizations makes her uniquely positioned to represent the Chamber membership and the regional business community to realize this success,” Jennifer Siciliano, chair of the chamber’s board of directors and chief communications and external affairs officer at Inova, said in a statement.
