Morris has spent roughly 25 years working to protect the environment, most recently as CEO for The Nature Conservancy; before that, she was president of nonprofit Conservation International.

She recently weighed in on a U.S. Supreme Court ruling curbing the power of the Environmental Protection Agency. “This case may be complex, but the harmful impact of this ruling is easy to understand,” she said in a statement. “It makes it even harder to address the climate crisis at a time when we need to be doing all we can.”

For nearly six decades, The Nature Conservancy, a global environmental nonprofit founded in the U.S., has protected more than 119 million acres of land and 5,000 river miles. In 2021, that included 236,000 acres of tropical rainforest in Belize, according to an annual report.

Morris has a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University and is known for her conservation finance and economic development expertise. She blogs on topics such as the need for change in the global food system and how public finance can help nature recover.
