For more than 25 years, Morris has dedicated her life to protecting the environment. She brings decades of global leadership, management skills and a passion for conservation to her role as CEO at The Nature Conservancy, which she joined in May 2020.
She began her career in conservation while working with the Ovambo people in a village in rural Namibia, where she saw firsthand the severe impact that environmental degradation can have on local communities.
In her current role at The Nature Conservancy, Morris is focused on the organization’s 2030 goals of helping to ensure the creation of a carbon-neutral, nature-positive and equitable world in what she and the nonprofit see as a critical decade ahead for the planet.
Morris previously worked as president of nonprofit Conservation International. She holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University. She enjoys hiking Billy Goat Trail on Bear Island, an island owned by The Nature Conservancy on the Potomac River just across the state line in Montgomery County, Maryland.
