Scott Tolleson has been named managing director of New Richmond Ventures (NRV), an early-stage venture firm.
Tolleson was previously a partner with Newport Board Group, a CEO advisory firm.
In his new role, Tolleson will be responsible for helping raise and deploy capital and ensure that NRV resources are directed effectively and efficiently.
A longtime venture investor and serial entrepreneur, Mr. Tolleson has founded venture-backed companies on the East and West coasts. He is best known as the founder of Media.net Communications Inc., in Los Angeles, a provider of telecommunications and software services to major entertainment production companies.
He also founded Digital Services LLC, a cable television company serving the multi-family apartment industry, and previously managed the business services and Internet access subsidiaries of MediaOne (now Comcast). In addition, he has advised many leading technology companies on corporate strategy and product innovation.
A native of Richmond, Tolleson received bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.
