Casa del Barco, a new Mexican restaurant, has opened for business in the Italianate building on the Haxall Canal in downtown Richmond. The restaurant is an anchor tenant at The Locks, a $35 million, mixed-use development at the former Reynolds Metals packaging plant. It’s the latest offering from Kevin Healy, owner of The Boathouse at Sunday Park in Chesterfield County and The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing in Richmond.
The WVS Cos.and Fountainhead Properties are converting several tobacco warehouses on South 11th Street into a six-acre community of 175 apartments, condominiums, and 8,000 square feet of retail space.
Besides the restaurant, The Locks already is leasing 88 apartments between the Italianate and Alume buildings off Byrd Street. An additional 86 apartments are expected to open soon.
