A new study predicts Amazon’s Northern Virginia headquarters should create a total of 59,308 jobs by 2030.
Richmond-based Chmura Economics & Analytics said in addition to 25,621 direct jobs, the project also should create 33,987 indirect and induced jobs. The report was released Friday at the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 9th annual Virginia Economic Summit in Williamsburg.
The economic impact of the project is expected to be $14.2 billion per year by 2030.
The report also expects an outsized impact on Arlington County, where most of the new headquarters will reside.
“A similar level of impact will occur each year after,” Chris Chmura, CEO and chief economist at Chmura Economics & Analytics, told attendees.
Chmura's report says the project will bring $346.7 million in annual state tax revenue by 2030.
The study was commissioned by the Virginia Chamber Foundation and McGuireWoods Consulting.
