A 93-room Hyatt Place hotel will open Jan. 21 in the Eagle Village mixed-use development across from the University of Mary Washington’s Fredericksburg campus.
The UMW Foundation built the five-story boutique hotel, which will serve the university, downtown Fredericksburg and the Mary Washington Health System.
“Hyatt Place Fredericksburg at Mary Washington is located in a very desirable and historic area, and we’re looking forward to creating a positive travel experience for each and every guest that walks through our doors,” Jim Fournier, the hotel’s general manager, said in a statement.
The hotel offers 89 studios, three executive suites and one presidential suite. Amenities include an indoor, heated salt-water pool; a fitness center; more than 1,500 square feet of flexible meeting space; a courtyard with a fountain and fire pit bars; and a lobby with 24-hour food and beverage service and 1,400 square feet of retail space. Room rates range from $99 to $289 per night and can vary due to the season and discounts.
The Hyatt Place Fredericksburg began accepting reservations earlier this month and already has booked events, including weddings, reunions and meetings for associations and university-affiliated groups.
The hotel is the first project to benefit from the commonwealth’s new Virginia Tourism Development Financing program, which provides economic incentives to developers of projects that benefit tourism. Arlington-based Interstate Hotel and Resorts will manage the property.
