Indian Land, S.C.-based Movement Mortgage is investing $2 million to move its operations center from Virginia Beach to a vacant store in the Military Circle shopping mall in Norfolk, according to a news release issued Friday by Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office. The relocation is expected to retain 550 jobs and create 200 positions.
Movement Mortgage, a privately held mortgage company, was founded in Virginia Beach in 2008. The company employs over 3,000 people and has more than 500 branches in the U.S., including operations centers in Virginia Beach, Richmond, Charlotte, North Carolina and Phoenix.
McAuliffe approved a $600,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund for the project. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
