Mohawk Industries, a leading flooring products manufacturer, will expand its manufacturing operations in Carroll County.
Virginia successfully competed against Alabama for the project at the company’s Hillsville plant, which will invest in new equipment while retaining existing jobs.
Mohawk is the world’s largest flooring manufacturer. During the past two decades, the company has transformed itself from being an American carpet manufacturer to become a producer of carpet, rugs, ceramic tile, laminate, wood, stone and vinyl flooring.
In addition to the U.S., the company has operations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, India, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand and Russia.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Carroll County and Virginia’s Industrial Advancement Alliance to secure the project.
The Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission approved $95,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds.
Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
