Eliahu H. Niewood has been technical director for DoD and Air Force projects.

The Mitre Corp. has promoted Eliahu H. Niewood to vice president of joint and cross-cutting capabilities, the McLean-based nonprofit research and development organization announced Tuesday.
Niewood has been with MITRE since 2017 and has focused on developing command and control technology for the Department of Defense. He has served as technical director for DoD and U.S. Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office projects and from 2011 to 2014 was the chair of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. He also previously worked in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory for more than 22 years.
In his new role he will lead collaboration across MITRE’s national security portfolios and work with MITRE’s Center for Technology and National Security.
Niewood holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT.
MITRE was founded in 1958 and has more than 8,400 employees.
