Construction of the first phase of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project is expected to be complete late this summer.
Construction on the project, which will extends Metrorail through Tysons Corner on to Reston, is 89 percent complete.
Station structures are in place at the four stations at Tysons Corner and at Wiehle Avenue in Reston. Track work is almost completed, and the tunnels to carry trains below the Route 7/Route 123 intersection are done. Pedestrian bridges over Routes 7 and 123 and the Dulles Airport Highway Corridor have been completed.
Construction remaining includes user accessibility and safety features, which involves intensive work where the Silver Line will merge with the Orange Line near Interstate 66.
Testing is ongoing, which began in December with the running of the first clearance car on the alignment from Wiehle Avenue an East Falls Church.
