Merrill Lynch Wealth Management has named Gina Sorrells market executive for the Southern Virginia market.
Sorrells will lead 153 financial advisers in seven branch offices in the Charlottesville, Hampton Roads and Richmond areas.
Most recently Sorrells was market executive for the Carolina Commonwealth market in Greensboro, N.C. Sorrells has been with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management since 1997, when she joined the firm as a financial adviser in the firm’s Asheville, N.C., office. There she held many leadership roles, including resident director and associate director.
In 2008, Sorrells advanced to the role of complex director for the Charleston, W.V. & Associates complex. In 2012, she moved into a practice management consulting role, which she held until April 2014.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Sorrells worked as a trust officer for First Union National Bank in Asheville.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville and holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
