McLean-based defense contractor Alion Science and Technology Corp. was awarded a $248 million Navy contract, the company announced Thursday. The contract is for the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) for architecture development.

Alion will provide research, development and engineering to develop architecture for advanced warrior training at Fleet Warfighting and Training Commands.

“It is imperative that live and synthetic training environments excel at providing real world mission rehearsal support for our warfighters,” Katie Selbe, senior vice president and general manager of Alion, said in a statement. “We look forward to continue world class support to the mission.”

Work will focus on the NCTE Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) architecture and systems for advanced Warfighter training. The Department of Defense Analysis Center Program Management Office provided material for the project.

The contract is expected to last 48 months.

Alion was founded in 2002 and specializes in training, big data analytics and cybersecurity. The company has more than 55 offices in the U.S. and more than 25 research labs.
