McLean-base Sunrise Senior Living LLC has named Penny McIntyre its chief executive officer, effective Nov. 18.
She will succeed Mark Ordan, the company's current CEO, who announced earlier this year he would step down after the company's sale.
It was bought by an investment including Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP, Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Co. and Health Care REIT.
McIntyre will become the third CEO in the company's 30-year history. Senior Living has 29,000 employees and operates 291 senior living communities in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
McIntyre was the president of Newell RubberMaid Inc.'s Consumer Group, where she led the international growth strategy for iconic global brands such as Rubbermaid, Sharpie, Calphalon, Levolor, Paper Mate and Parker.
Ordan led the company through a financial turnaround and a sale earlier this year to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P., Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Company and Health Care REIT.
Sunrise offers a full range of personalized senior living services, including independent living, assisted living, care for individuals with Alzheimer's and other forms of memory loss, as well as nursing and rehabilitative services.
