McLean-based HumanTouch LLC has acquired management solutions company CorasWorks Corp.

Reston-based CorasWorks has supplied more than 1,000 private- and public-sector organization with Microsoft SharePoint solutions and applications.

HumanTouch, founded in 1998, is a “platform as a service” (PaaS) and information solutions provider. PaaS is a category of cloud computing services.

“The addition of CorasWorks into our environment provides a major leap forward in providing PaaS solutions to our customers,” Jim Benson, senior vice president of HumanTouch, said in a statement.

“CorasWorks has a depth of products and solutions that significantly expands our ecosystem that allows for quick application development, ease of configuration and one-touch deployment,” he said. “This is integral to our goal of being recognized as an integrated product and services company that produces ‘just-in-time’ solutions to reduce risk and accelerate business value.”

HumanTouch noted that PaaS solution marketplace is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 41 percent through 2016, according to Market Monitor.

The reason for this anticipated growth is that PaaS represents a major shift with regard to the building, deploying and improving of applications while increasing the speed of systems changes, the company said, adding what previously took months now can get done in weeks, days and even hours.
