More than 5,000 Virginia veterans have been hired under an effort by state government to employ more veterans.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Thursday that the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) program had certified 213 Virginia employers by the end of its second year. These employers have committed to providing 7,000 jobs for veterans, and 5,339 already have been hired.
McAuliffe also announced that Richmond-based Altria, a V3-certified company, had agreed to provide a $100,000 grant over the next year to double V3’s employer-training efforts.
