Richmond-based Matrix Capital Markets Group Inc. said Monday it has formed a new consulting group focused on the oil and petroleum industries and convenience stores.

Melvin L. Strine will serve as the director of the new endeavor, Matrix Consulting Services Group.

Matrix is an independent investment bank with offices in Richmond, Baltimore, Chicago and Dallas. Since 1988, the company has provided merger & acquisition and financial advisory services for companies. It serves clients in various industries, including industrial, building and consumer products.
