McLean-based Mars Inc. announced Friday that it completed its acquisition of Iams, Eukanuba and Natura pet food brands from the Proctor & Gamble Co. in certain countries.
The deal, finances of which were not disclosed, includes those brands in North America, Latin America and other countries.
The company also said it will exercise an option to purchase Protor & Gamble’s pet food businesses in some parts of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
The deal reinforces the company’s strategy to build its presence in emerging markets.
The new brands will be part of Mars Petcare. Mars’ current pet food business includes the Pedigree, Whiskas, Royal Canin, Banfeld and Nutro brands.
