Markel promotes Hollis Zyglocke to lead mid-Atlantic region

Glen Allen-based Fortune 500 holding company for insurance, reinsurance and investment operations Markel Corp. has promoted Hollis Zyglocke to regional president, mid-Atlantic region, for the company’s Markel Specialty division, the company announced Thursday.

Zyglocke will lead the region within Markel Specialty’s east territory. The region she will lead includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky.

She joined Markel in 2017 and served as the senior director, underwriting & production, casualty/excess and umbrella, in Markel’s mid-Atlantic region.

“Hollis’ leadership, combined with her experience and relationships, will be an asset to her team and our customers,” said Sarah Gavlick, Markel Specialty chief territory officer, east, in a statement. “She has been a vital member of our mid-Atlantic team and we’re looking forward to continued profitable growth for the region under her leadership.”

She has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and before joining Markel, Zyglocke was at James River Insurance Company.

Zyglocke will be based in Markel’s Glen Allen office.
