Big Trouble Malting and Spirits plans to open a malting facility and craft distillery in Petersburg.
The company will invest nearly $1 million and create nine new jobs in Petersburg, while committing to buy more than 40,000 bushels of grains and fruits from local farmers.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services worked with the city of Petersburg on the project. Gov. Terry McAuliffe approved a $50,000 grant from the Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund to assist the city.
The new malting facility and craft distillery will be in Petersburg’s historic downtown district.
Big Trouble will invest in site improvements, equipment, and new building construction to renovate an underutilized historic building.
