Reston-based federal contractor Leidos has won a $454.9 million contract to modernize the U.S. Air Force‘s Cloud One platform, the Fortune 500 company announced Wednesday.
The platform hosts military software and data in the cloud. The work Leidos will perform will help the Department of Defense protect military systems and data and accelerate cloud adoption across Air Force units worldwide.
Under the contract, Leidos will work with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to improve the Air Force’s multi-cloud environment. The company said the improvements are designed to boost security, increase automation, simplify day-to-day operations and reduce costs.
“Modernizing Cloud One helps the Air Force deploy mission-critical operations faster and defend them more effectively,” Leidos President of Digital Modernization Steve Hull said in a statement. “It also creates a secure, repeatable cloud foundation that other Department of War organizations can adopt, helping to remove barriers to cloud adoption and enabling teams to move faster and more securely.”
Leidos did not specify the contract length, and the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In January, Leidos entered an agreement to buy utilities infrastructure design firm Entrust Solutions Group for approximately $2.4 billion in cash. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of this year. That same month, the company announced plans to lay off 93 employees in Ashburn by March 23, a move related to a recompete of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Information and Technology contract worth up to $100 million.
Leidos has 47,000 employees globally and reported $17.2 billion in revenue for fiscal 2025.
