Reston-based Fortune 500 government contractor Leidos announced Monday that it has secured a $142 million defense contract to modernize the IT operations of the Compartmented Enterprise Services Office within the Defense Information Systems Agency.
The contract supports more efficient information sharing across the U.S. Department of Defense and the intelligence community.
Through the award, Leidos will provide engineering, software development, operations and cybersecurity services to improve CESO’s secure web applications. The contract work includes scalable, artificial intelligence-driven capabilities designed to help streamline operations and improve secure information access.
“This modernization effort strengthens the digital backbone that supports our nation’s defense and intelligence operations,” Leidos Senior Vice President Paul Welch, who works with the digital modernization sector at the company, said in a statement. “By delivering secure, unified access to classified information, Leidos is enabling faster decision making, more effective operations and the resilience needed to maintain mission superiority.”
A Leidos spokesperson said the contract has the potential to go up to five years, with one base year and four option years. Work will be performed in Arlington County.
Headquartered in Reston, Leidos has 47,000 global employees and reported revenue of $16.7 billion for the fiscal year ended Jan. 3, 2025.
Last month, the company announced it had entered an agreement to buy utilities infrastructure design firm Entrust Solutions Group for approximately $2.4 billion in cash.
