Bedford County-based KMR Aviation Services Inc. announced Thursday a $1 million expansion that’s expected to create a dozen jobs.
Due to a growing clientele, the company will purchase its 7,200-square-foot leased facility and add a new repair center to build and assemble components.
KMR leases, certifies, sells parts, and provides maintenance solutions for the global airline industry. With six current employees, the company offers services to such clients as the ProFlight Zambia and other global customers.
The Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission approved $35,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds for the project. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program. The Region 2000 Workforce Development Board will provide financial assistance for apprenticeship related instruction.
