Huntington Ingalls Industries acquires Texas company

Newport News-based Huntington Ingalls Industries  (HII) announced Monday the acquisition of UniversalPegasus International Holdings (UPI), a Houston-based firm that provides engineering and project management services to the domestic and international energy markets.

HII announced its intention to acquire UPI last month. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In addition to performing work in Texas, UPI also works in Oklahoma, Illinois, Louisiana, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Trinidad and Tobago. UPI will be a subsidiary of HII.


HII designs, builds and maintains nuclear and non-nuclear ships for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard and provides services for military ships around the world. The company employs more than 38,000 people in Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, California and Colorado.
