One of Virginia’s oldest construction companies has opened a new office in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom area.

“We’ve been looking to expand our presence in Richmond for some time. Our new Grace Street office is ideal because it positions us near many of our existing colleagues and clients,” Jennifer Macks, a vice president with Howard Shockey & Sons Inc., said in a statement.

Over the past 10 years, Shockey established its presence in Richmond  with projects such as GRTC’s headquarters on Belt Boulevard and the new Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School on Mosby Street.

According to project director Doug Hilemn, who has been managing Shockey’s Richmond operations since 2012, the company has recently been awarded several new jobs, including the renovation of the downtown data center for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU.) Shockey is teaming with Facility Support Inc. for this 8,000-square-foot project on Bank Street.

“The opening of our new office in Shockoe Bottom area underscores our commitment to the central Virginia market, and how important the City of Richmond has been to us as a client.  It also emphasizes the importance we see of being in the Commonwealth’s capital and having opportunities to interact with our legislators,” said Jeff Boehm, the company's president.

Howard Shockey & Sons is one of the Virginia's  largest general contracting and construction management companies.

The new Richmond office is located at 1805 East Grace St.
