As CEO of Apple Hospitality, a publicly traded real estate investment trust, Knight oversees about 220 hotels, mainly Hilton and Marriott brands, in 37 states. He took over from his father, founder Glade Knight, in 2014. The elder Knight serves as executive chairman of the 16-year-old REIT.
For fiscal year 2022, Apple reported almost $1.24 billion in revenue, up 33% from fiscal year 2021. The company reported $4.77 billion in assets as of Dec. 31, 2022. In June, Apple Hospitality acquired a Courtyard by Marriott in Cleveland for $31 million, and in October 2022, it purchased two AC Hotels by Marriott in Kentucky and Pittsburgh. The company also has a hotel under contract in Madison, Wisconsin.
Knight earned his bachelor’s degree and MBA from Brigham Young University. He is a member of the board of trustees for Venture Richmond and is immediate past chair of the American Hotel and Lodging Association board.
