HomeTown Bank, based in Roanoke, has broken ground on a 5,800-square-foot branch in Salem as it continues to expand its branch footprint in Southwest Virginia.

“Even with mobile banking and online banking, people like to have a branch nearby. This new Salem location will make all of HomeTown Bank’s services even more convenient for our Salem neighbors,” Susan Still, president & CEO of HomeTown Bank, said in a statement.

The bank currently has five branches in three markets, serving Roanoke, Smith Mountain Lake, and the New River Valley. The Salem branch will be its sixth location.

Thor Inc. is serving as the general contractor. Rife & Wood Architects will handle the design and architecture. The new branch will employ seven people and is expected to be completed in the late summer.
