Virginia-based Hirschler Fleischer announced this week it has started a data privacy and security practice to serve small to midsize businesses.
The practice focuses on the laws and industry standards that regulate the collection, use and disclosure of personal data. Collin J. Hite, Jacqueline C. Hedblom and Angela R. Matney will lead the new division.
“Cyber security is a growing concern for companies of all sizes, and though data breaches make headlines when they impact large corporations, small to midsize businesses are equally vulnerable,” Hite said in a statement. “Acknowledging the growing need among our client base, we assembled a team of legal professionals experienced in helping clients prepare for and respond to a variety of cyber threats.”
The practice works with clients to develop data protection, advises companies on cyber insurance policy and risk management and ensures compliance with state and federal data protection laws.
Hirschler Fleischer is a law firm with offices in Richmond and Fredericksburg.
