HHHunt has started construction on Abberly at Southpoint, a $47 million, 280-unit apartment project in Fredericksburg.

The project represents HHHunt’s first multifamily community in the Fredericksburg area and its seventh apartment community in Virginia.

Scheduled to open in late summer, Abberly at Southpoint will offer upscale apartment living with access to the new Virginia Railway Express station and downtown Fredericksburg.

“Fredericksburg continues to grow and we’re thrilled to join the local community with the development of Abberly at Southpoint,” Jim Nicholson, senior vice president of property development for HHHunt, said in a statement.

Abberly at Southpoint community will have one-, two- and three- bedroom floor plans. It also plans to have a controlled access gate and elevator access.

Amenities will include a clubhouse with business lounge, game area, swimming pool, fitness center with yoga studio and an outdoor grilling and gathering area.

HHHunt opened its first apartment community in 1966 in Blacksburg. Today the company owns and manages more than 7,000 apartment homes in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.  By the end of the year, the company plans new communities in Virginia and Maryland that will add close to 1,500 new apartment homes by the end of 2016.
