Herndon tech company names senior VP, CFO

Herndon-based tech company Serco Inc. (a subsidiary of United Kingdom-based Serco Group plc) announced Wednesday it has named Gordon Foster as senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective Oct. 26. He will succeed Gary Shankman, who announced his plans to retire by the end of 2020. 

Foster has been the CFO for Herndon-based government contractor Constellis for the past two years. In his new role, he will lead corporate financial and accounting operations and report to Serco Chairman and CEO Dave Dacquino.

“Gordon has a proven track record of leading financial organizations and delivering outstanding results,” Dacquino said in a statement. “We look forward to his contributions towards the company’s future growth.”

Foster has also previously worked in financial leadership positions with ASRC Federal and Northrop Grumman Corp. 

Shankman announced his plans to retire to devote more time supporting his elderly parents, according to the company. 

“He has been one of the most devoted and hardworking individuals here at Serco,” Dacquino said in a statement about Shankman. “On behalf of the entire Serco family, we wish Gary a happy and fulfilling retirement.”

Serco Group plc was founded more than 50 years ago and currently employs more than 40,000 people in 35 countries, 8,000 of whom are employed in the U.S. The company works primarily with federal and local government customers.
