Herndon has named Dennis H. Holste Jr. to the newly-created position of economic development manager.
He will be responsible for promoting the town as a desirable location in which to start or grow a business.
Holste comes to Herndon from Margate, Fla., where he was the assistant director in the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). He was responsible for the CRA’s business recruitment and expansion efforts, served as project manager for agency-initiated capital projects, and represented the agency before community associations, city advisory boards and related governmental bodies.
He was largely responsible for the recruitment of Saveology.com to Margate and the expansion of Global Response Corp. in the city.
Holste holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University and a master’s degree in public administration from North Carolina State University.
The Herndon Town Council authorized the creation of a staff position dedicated to economic development largely as a result of recommendations put forward by an Economic Development Task Force.
Holste begins his employment on Sept. 3.
