Health Care 2023: REESE JACKSON

Named Chesapeake Regional Healthcare’s president and CEO in 2016, Jackson previously led Forbes Regional Hospital in Pennsylvania and was chief operating officer and senior vice president of operations for Valley Health.

With 40 practice locations and approximately 600 physicians, Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is a nonprofit health system serving Chesapeake and northeast North Carolina.

During his tenure, Jackson has led several projects, including construction of the Richard S. Bray Critical Care Tower and renovation and expansion of the Priority Toyota Cancer Center. Its flagship hospital, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, received state approval in January to perform open heart surgeries. The hospital expects to begin offering cardiac surgeries in early 2024, with plans to perform
150 surgeries in 2024 and 250 in 2025.

Jackson received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, his master’s degree in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and a law degree from the University of Richmond. Last year, he was honored as 2022 First Citizen of Chesapeake, an annual award recognizing citizenship, leadership and enhancing the city’s quality of life.
