The General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded Reston-based government technology company Octo Consulting Group an $11.8 million contract to provide framework and architecture services for the GSA’s System for Award Management (SAM).

Under the GSA’s CIO Modernization and Enterprise Transformation contract, Octo will provide Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and business and technical architecture for the GSA’s Integrated Award Environment (IAE). SAFe is a set of organization and workflow patterns, which will be used to improve the GSA system. SAM can be used to register businesses with the U.S. government, update entity registration, check registration status and search for registration records.

“Octo has always emphasized the importance of emerging technologies and relentlessly invests to ensure we have the right technologies, partnerships, processes, and employees to lead modernization efforts such as IAE’s,” Octo Director for GSA Programs AJ Rowland said in a statement. “We are excited to continue our successful partnership with GSA through this contract that enables us to impact the entire IAE program through architecture, governance, DevOps, and Agile process enhancements.”

Founded in 2006, Octo specializes in information technology consulting for the federal government. Some of its clients include the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the GSA.

“This is a key win for our GSA team, further demonstrating the valuable work the team has been doing for this customer over the last several years,” Thomas Lee, senior vice president of Octo’s federal and civilian business unit, said in a statement. “We are pleased to continue to support GSA by providing top talent and technology to help them meet mission objectives.”
