The Greater Washington Partnership (GWP) announced Wednesday that JB Holston will become the organization’s CEO in September. Founded in 2017, GWP is an alliance of 27 CEOs and business leaders in the region that focuses on economic development for the greater Washington region, including parts of Northern Virginia, Richmond and Baltimore.

Holston succeeds the organization’s first CEO, Jason Miller.

Holston is dean of the Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Denver. He has also held senior executive positions at General Electric and NBC. In total, he has spent three decades in business leadership roles and will come to the helm of the organization after a nationwide search.

He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University.

Founded in 2016, the GWP developed the talent pipeline Capital CoLAB, played a hand in Amazon.com Inc.’s HQ2 site selection in Northern Virginia and  haslaunched other initiatives focused on housing needs and COVID-19 approaches.
