General Dynamics, an aerospace and defense company based in Falls Church, has announced plans to consolidate its Advanced Information Systems and C4 Systems business units, effective Jan. 1. The combined organization will be based in Fairfax and led by Chris Marzilli, current president of General Dynamics’ C4 Systems.
General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, headquartered in Fairfax, provides mission-related systems development, integration and operations support. It employs approximately 5,700 people.
The company’s C4 Systems is an integrator of communications, information systems and technology. About 7,400 people are employed in that business unit, which is based in Scottsdale, Ariz.
According to General Dynamics, the decision to combine the businesses came after a comprehensive review of its Information Systems and Technology business group.
“This restructuring will make us more efficient, cost-effective and responsive to our customers,” David K. Heebner, executive vice president of the Information Systems and Technology group for General Dynamics, said in a statement. “Combining these organizations will leverage their complementary capabilities and further enhance performance.”
