The board of directors of Falls Church-based General Dynamics has authorized the repurchase up to 20 million shares of the company's outstanding common stock on the open market.
The company’s stock closed at $98.88 a share on Wednesday. It was up more than $2 a share Thursday in later afternoon trading.
General Dynamics employs about 96,000 people worldwide.
