GDIT lands $4.5B IT contract

Falls Church-based General Dynamics Information Technology has been awarded a user facing and data center services contract from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) worth $4.5 billion over a 10-year period.

Under the contract, GDIT, a business unit of Reston-based Fortune 500 aerospace and defense contractor General Dynamics Corp., will operate, build, design and innovate an IT system across the NGA, GDIT Business Area Vice President Ben Buckley said. That includes a range of technologies, including desktop, and off-the-shelf and open source technologies.  The company will advance geospatial intelligence capabilities and support users with a range of services including application, high-performance computing, virtual desktop, unified communications, platform as a service, and mobile wireless security across multiple networks and global agency locations. The company also will support IT infrastructure at a new NGA campus in St. Louis.

General Dynamics is an aerospace and defense company that employs more than 100,000 people worldwide and generated $38.5 billion in revenue in 2021.
