Gary Williams has been hired as project director for Howard Shockey & Sons Inc. Richmond office.
Williams has 20 years experience in construction management, and offers expertise in high-rise construction, state public sector projects, and historic renovations.
“We are excited to bring Gary back to Shockey as a key member of our management team,” Jennifer Macks, a vice president at Shockey, said in a statement.
Williams is a repeat hire for Shockey, where he worked for the Winchester-based general contracting company’s Precast Group from 1998 to 2005.
For the last decade, he worked for KBS Inc. Most recently, Williams worked on several high-rise projects, including a seven-story office building for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), and a 178-unit, eleven-story student housing project at 900 West Grace Street.
Shockey’s Richmond office is located at 1805 East Grace Street in the Shockoe Bottom area. The company recently has been awarded several jobs in the city, including the renovation of the downtown data center for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a multi-site project for the Richmond Department of Public Works and a significant portion of the Richmond Riverfront Plan.
Shockey, a privately held general contractor, design-builder, and construction manager, is one of Virginia's oldest and largest construction companies. Now in its 118th year of operation, its primary markets include health care, education, senior living, commercial, municipal, and manufacturing in the mid-Atlantic region.
