Frontier Airlines, the Denver-based carrier known for cheap ticket prices and charging for amenities, debuted Friday at Richmond International Airport, offering nonstop service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to a company announcement. And on Oct. 19, Frontier will begin offering nonstop service to Denver International Airport from the River City.
The airline is offering two flights a week to each city.
“These routes not only offer affordable, convenient options for travelers but also strengthen Richmond’s connections to two of the nation’s most dynamic cities,” Perry J. Miller, president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Commission, said in a Frontier news release.
Introductory fares start at $29 to Atlanta and $49 to Denver. For the sale, tickets must be purchased by Oct. 25. Sale fares are valid on select days through Dec. 18. The sale fares aren’t available from Nov. 20-30 and Dec. 1-2.
Frontier, which travels to about 100 destinations, also flies out of Norfolk and Washington, D.C. Later this year, Frontier plans to begin offering first class seating. The airline reported total operating revenue of $3.775 billion for 2024, a 5% increase over 2023.
